David Kohn is a psychotherapist, clinical leader, and teacher known for his depth-oriented, embodied approach to healing. A licensed clinical social worker with over two decades of experience, David specializes in trauma recovery, addiction treatment, and relational repair. He is the founder and guiding clinician of DK Counseling Group — a boutique psychotherapy practice dedicated to restoring depth, dignity, and clinical integrity to the therapeutic process. What began as a solo practice has since evolved into a collaborative, values-driven team committed to presence-based, transmodal care.

David leads the clinical vision of DKCG, provides high-level supervision, facilitates trauma and professional development groups, and maintains a limited individual and couples therapy caseload. His leadership ensures that the practice remains rooted in excellence, collaboration, and soulfulness — with an emphasis on meaningful therapeutic work over rote protocol.

In addition to his work at DKCG, David serves as Chief Clinical Officer of Ray of Hope, a nonprofit supporting Jewish survivors of sexual abuse and their families. In this role, he leads the development of trauma-informed policies and programs that honor both safety and human dignity, helping shape national conversations around survivor care in faith-based communities.

David’s clinical work is deeply informed by mindfulness, both as a personal discipline and as a therapeutic resource. A respected teacher of mindfulness meditation, he integrates awareness-based practices into therapy to support emotional regulation, self-compassion, and somatic healing. His approach bridges traditional psychotherapy with presence-based inner work — empowering clients to reconnect with themselves, their relationships, and their values.

David lives in New City, NY with his wife and five sons. He draws strength and renewal from nature, movement, and his own ongoing inner work — knowing that a clinician’s presence is one of their most essential tools.
